HELP!!!!! oil pressure

My oil pressure in the past week has jumped from 60 to way above 80!(Which is past the gauge marking) I have no clue what is going on, I added thinking it would change the problem,but it just went up moreand more. Is my gauge broken or is something wrong? Could it be that my 4.0 is finally loosing the battle to stay running?? I am dumdfounded!! HELP!!

Sounds like the sender unit gave up it's ghost?

I also agree with the above. Just replaced my wifes and that cured it. Good Luck!!! XXJ

Pull the wire off of the sender, start the ride and look at the gauge again -- if it's still pegged on the high side there's a short in the sender wire (connecting to the chassis somewhere). If the gauge reads 0psi then the gauge hasn't been damaged and replacing the sender (as mentioned) should get you to reading your real pressure.
