I know that this might sound crazy but, I am not sure what to do, I want to turn 35"s or 36" tires and I know I need to swap gears. I want to go with 4.88 or bigger. But I am needeing new tires very soon, I am currently running 31"s, and would like to know if I should swap gears first or run large tires(with power lack) for a while? I am also swapping my rearend (hopefully) and dont want to stress that axel right away. What do I do????

Auto or manual? What's your gearing now?
The Auto is much more forgiving of larger tires and you can probably live with it a short time.
Put 36s on a manual with 3.07s and you'll never get it past 3rd.

I am running a auto and i am pretty sure, i could be wrong, but I believe i have stock 2.71 gearing.

Scrappy, if you have a 4 litre and auto, your gears should be 3:55's. I've been told you don't want to run anything larger than 33's on the 30 and 35 axle's unless you go to the aftermarket "super axle " kits. Just my $.02 worth.
