That is a sweet looking rig you've got desert cj7. Maybe with a lot of time and hopefully little money my CJ5 will be Fountain Green again!

AH yes, Vacuum operated wipers. I remember my '63 CJ5 had them and they would stop working when I tried to do over 65MPH. It was great to be able to turn off the passenger wiper by itself. That way he would not be a scared because he couldnt see were I was going.
If he knew I couldn't see much better I bet he would start to worry more.

sigh....

76 CJ5,
I dont have the vacuum wipers, but each wiper does has its own electric motor. I wired each to its own switch so I can use them individually if it ever rains. No reason to wire them this way except I thought it was kinda fun to be able to do that. Maybe when the novelty wears off i will rewire them.
:-)

Well, my first post here!!

Hello guys, I'm 28, have had jeeps for the last 8 years and probably always will. Here is my latest creation. Sorry about the poor quality of the pics.

Here's my current project: '71 CJ5, 350cid, NP435, D300, D44's, Homebuilt frame, 'glass body... etc.

I was thinking about putting a NP435 onto a D300 but with the adapter I thought it would be to long for a CJ5. How long is the length of your trnns+adater+tcase?

BESRK

The scattershield is 6.5", the NP435 is about 11", the adapter from Novak is 4.25", and the Dana 300 is about 12" for a total length of about 33.75" from the rear of the engine. I haven't dropped the setup in the frame yet but I plan on scooting everything forward as far as possible. If I need to, I'll go to a pusher electric fan but I would prefer to stay with a stock mechanical. My frame is actually about 2" longer than stock and my preliminary measurements put my rear driveshaft length at about 14-16 inches or so. I can also scoot the rear axle back about 3-4 inches if I need to also.
