Hey guys, i'm a new one here and i was wondering if any of you could help me out. i am seriously wanting to lift my XJ up about 2-3 inches and then get 31-33 inch tires. i have all the info i need about the tires but now all i need is a little info on the lifts. like where to actually buy XJ lift kits and which ones would suit me best. any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Scott

Welcome aboard!!!!

I would suggest Rusty's Offroad (http://www.rustysoffroad.com) as a good place to start for a 3" lift with all you need.

Rusty is a great guy to deal with and his 3" kit is pretty awesome.

Some others to look at though are:

Rubicon Express - Would by from either Offroadtoystore.com or BIGOffroad.com

Tomken - BIGOffroad has the best pricing on Tomken I have seen

Good luck!!!!

I'd recomend Rubicon Express (RE) or Rusty's. I have a 6" RE and love it. Don't know much about Rusty's.

Last month I installed Rusty's 3" lift on my 85 XJ. And I'm happy with it. The kit basically only consists of Add-a-leafs, coil springs, and new longer shocks.
I also got his Quick disconnects, which are a must, but I'd rather have gone with JKS quicker discos.

So rustys is good, and good phone support too.

Once the kit is installed, and the sway bars are removed and/or disconnected, it's like a whole new jeep has come to life.

Good luck.

Hey, I'm new to this forum, too. I just had the RE 3.5" lift put on my '98 XJ, and I love it. I got new front springs, LCA, AAL for the rear and Old Man Emu shocks all around. With the 8.25 rear end, I had to do a 1" t-case drop to eliminate some of the vibes, but an older model XJ should be OK without it.

If I hadn't gone with RE, my next choice was Rusty's. I think you'll be happy with either one.

There are many lifts available for your cherokee,I dont really know from experience but I have read that the ole man emu lifts are supposedly the best, they say it is because there are no addaleafs and that the springs are all new springs, but like I say I dont know from experience, I have also heard good reviews about rubicon express and skyjacker also. If you get a fourwheeler mag they usually have many lifts available for the xj, I myslelf am thinking of lifting my 96 xj, I think Im going to go with rubicon express, as with 33's on a three inch lift, Im thinkin ya might have to do some fender trimming, maybe not. Hope this helps.
Happy jeepin

Like everone says -- a thousand sources -- (I'm thinking that BigOffroad.com could probably work a reduced-cost shipping to KC for some kits...

Really, if you're lookin for a wicked nice smooth ride - look only at full-spring solutions (as mentioned) -- the Emu kits with their shocks are amazing and worth the $$$, but if $$$ are an issure then look at all of the other names...

Check out this host's Jeep registry for what other folks have been using ( http://registry.ilovejeeps.com ) - lots'a photos with equipment lists. Maybe you'll see somthing you like or get a feel for where people are going with their rides.

For me, I had all my springs made to order (can you say poor a$$ ?); my front coils are the same rate/spec as Rusty's Off Road's, just a bit taller to handle some preload and extra weight, and the rear springs are what BigOffRoad can get for a few $ more than some of the kits (and much less than I paid).

Budgeting is a key element for most any lift (or other project), and everyone here will be more than happy to help ensure that you have what you'll need (and I'm sure suggest things that you may not).

With 33's and 3" you'll be cuttin' some and bump-stoppin' the rest... (something to think about if you're gonna change your bumpers)

I'm installing a OME 2.5" suspension system right now.

They cost more but any owner of one will say it's worth it.

I searched for months and the best prices I found are at
http://www.rocky-road.com/xjome.html

But remember to order a Bushing super kit someplace, The ome springs do not come with bushings. You can get a superkit at carparts.com for $107 shipped with the $30 coupon avaliable on the net.
