I picked up a '78 Chief this past Saturday and I really don't know all that much about them. Anyone know a good source of info on the web?
Thanks
Pete

COOL DUDE !!
Now you can head on over to:
http://www.ifsja.org
And be prepared for the total WEALTH of information that gets exchanged daily.
Oh yeah, I must add in advance NO USE OF PROFANITY ALLOWED! We like to keep our BB family friendly. :D
But other than that nothing but fun.

Welcome to the wonderful world of the FSJ!!:)

Thanks! I actually just found that site a matter of minutes ago. Looking forward to learning about it. Mechanically, the FSJ is beautiful, 360 re-built last year, D-44's F/R, Q'tec w/Milemarker part-time kit, etc, etc.
It does need a good bit of body work, but I have been driving it everyday since I got it and it's great!

That is soo cool:D I love mine, that is a fact!! My wife had driven it during the last winter storms we have had and she too has taken quite a liking to it as well. It is sturdy, a great foot print in all weather. Snow? It just cruises right along, deep snow too!
I haven't had a chanch to take it off road much, just into some deep little gullies where I had to back out of. Slipped it into reverse and it moved right out like backing out of the driveway.
have fun!!,
