Nice! What is the max size tire that you can put on there?

Hey Shling,

I could probably run those new 37" Boggers since they only measure about 35" in diameter.;) No, 35" is about max. I can fully stuff a 35" tire front and rear. I am going to add longer bumpstops front and rear so that if I have the front tires turned I won't tear up a fender flare. My overall spring lift is about 6", and I (like you) don't run and won't run a body lift.

I should have rephrased my question, I'm just like that sometimes. ;)

What size tire will that tire carrier/bumper carry without pulling away from the rear crossmember? TIA!

Sorry Shling,

I'm a little dense - I must have been sleeping when I read your post!
I talked to Dan at Burnsville Off Road and he said he has one customer carrying a 36x16.5/15 Fun Country mounted on a steel wheel! He said a 38.5" Swamper SX shouldn't be a problem at all. He said he has never had one break. He also custom makes each one! He has some ideas for special backing plate for bigger tires, and knows it would be fine!

HTH!

Yeah, that's great. Thanks.

I like mine, but I don't like that I'm very limited on what I can do with it and I really don't like the t-bolt that I have as a latch mechanism. I would like something quicker, but then again, I don't want rattles either. I would like something placed a little higher.

FYI Shling,

I have no rattles at all!!!!:D

No rattles = good!

I have to have my bolt pattern changed from 5 n 4.5 to 5 on 5.5 on my carrier. I was toying with the idea of another one, but I guess the one I have is working fine, I'll just have to modify it for the new pattern.

If I'm not oversimplifying things, that should be as easy as welding a new plate on. I wouldn't try to drill extra holes in your existing mounting plate - I think that would weaken it!

Good Luck!

I think that's what I'm going to do. Plus, with a new plate, I will be able to mount it higher up on the carrier. An added bonus!
