Order the stillens from Kolak and was wondering if anybody had any advice or knew of a write-up concerning their installation. I've searched here and on JU and didn't find a whole lot. TIA.

Contact Nick (kolak@aol.com); he may have a copy of the article that was on some of the boards a while back, and maybe he could send it along.

You are going to love those rotors and pads. I did both ZJ's with them and they have been flawless. Stopping distance is much shorter and there is almost no dust on the wheels from the pads :D. The Stillens are head and shoulders above the slightly lower-priced slotted rotors, and are of much better quality of material and construction. This is a good example of 'cost' vs. 'price'.

I painted the centers of the rotors with high-temp black paint before installation, but that paint does wear off within a year or so; still looks nice, though.

Also, use an anti-squeal compound on the backs of the pads; Permatex makes a good one for this purpose; I have had no squeal problems at all.

Once installed, follow the manufacturer's instructions for break-in. There may be a bit of noise when you stand on the brakes in a hard stop; that is from the air holes on the rotor surfaces and is not a problem.

These things are awesome and I would not go any other way from here on when brakes need replacement. My older (1996) ZJ will be up for trade/sale soon to make way for the wife's new WJ, so its new owner will have some great brakes (and shocks and TBS, etc.). I will then put the Kolak brake upgrade on the new WJ when its brakes need replacement.
