I have been having this problem with my steering. When trying to turn the steering when not pressing on the gas(like in a parking space) it become very difficult. Almost like there is no power assist. When I step on the gas, even a little, it become easy again. I have check my fluids and my belts and I have lubed the steering joints. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance,

Might it be a bad power steering pump?
Do you hear a hissing sound when you turn the wheel, or feel a "jerky" motion?

I dont know about the Jeep pumps but on my 4Runner when that went it made a really bad winning sound when steering when not on the gas. Perhaps you are in the begingin stages. Im with Toolman. I think the pump is going. I think it was about 60$ for a rebuilt on for me. Again. That was for my '90 4Runner befor I got the ZJ. Good luck!

No don't recall hearing any sounds but I'll listen for them now. It only happens every once and awhile. And just when I am at a complete stop type of turn.
