Might as well start off the new forum forum with a good 'ole backspacing question.
I just got new tires...Cooper STT...and I am going to get new rims as well. The tires are awkwar size of 31/11.50 but will eventually get up to a 35/12.50. What would be a good backspacing. I was thinking maybe
AR767 15x8 and 4.0" backspacing. Do you all think this will be sufficient to avoi rubbing my flares?

Probably. I notice that most folks running 35's are using 3.75" to 4" of backspacing. Anything greater will probably result in the inner sidewalls contacting stuff.
Depends also on the brand of tire. Swampers being closer to the advertised size than the other brands would require that you take the true diameter into account.
I was comparing a 33" MT Claw to a 31" TSL Radial the other week, side by side on the showroom floor with a measuring tape and visual inspection. They both were the same height. Go figure.

4" backspacing might result in the tires hitting the flares if you manage to stuff them that far, but is better for the bigger tires later.

I would agree 4" if you are gonna go bigger someday, 4.5 if your gonna stay where you are.

What about 4.25" splitting the diffference? o they even make them w/ that backspacing? If not I'll probably go with 4".

AR767 come in 4" and 4.5 though the last place I checked said they only come in 4" Rockcrawlers come in whatever you want
