Well.... when I say I made it I mean my Dad and I ;)! Anyway, I got up some scrap metal around the construction yard we work at and we started welding and cutting. The only thing we used was an angle grinder and a welder. I primed/painted it then slaped on some reflecters and that it! I wanna mainly use it for my fire-barrle and the wood when I go on the beach.... and... whatever else I would need it for along the way. I started to drill holes in the side today so I can use the bungy net I bought. So, what do ya guys think?

I got another pic or two in here...

Looks good!
How is it attached to the ZJ?

I also like that sticker on your bumper! ;)

It is attached to the hitch. I just use the hitch pin. I can take it off and put it on myself. It takes two sec. Slide it in pop in the hitch pin and away I go!:D

Hey, that's cool. Somebody makes something like this commercially, but yours is probably better (and cheaper!) How's the torsional stiffness? That's the only thing I'd be concerned with, especially if you had something heavy on on side or the other.

Well today I took it on the beach... I had a 55gal steal drum that I cut into 1/3 as a burn barrel. I had that on one side full of logs and the other side a loaded cooler. Seemed fine even wailing on the beach. In the center my pops and I stood on it. Its about 400lbs between us both. The back of my ZJ was quite low at that time though! ;)

Very nice. I give it a two thumb up.

That's pretty slick! Good example of the K.I.S.S. principle! Good job.

I built on just like it a couple years ago only because I did not have any expanded steel for a floor, i used a piece of lminated foam (pretty strong and very light). But, unfortunately someone stole it from me. I used to use it to take my garbage to the road (300 ft away). I used to leave it about 50 feet or so from the road next to my driveway. One day I got home and it was gone.

Time to make a new one, with a locking feature, then I will keep it right on my Jeep on garbage day.
