I'd say that's a CJ6, and an older one at that. I don't remember how much longer the wheelbase was over a CJ5, but that was the only difference. At one time I had heard that Jeep made the CJ8 (or Scrambler) to use up a bunch of CJ6 frames they still had on hand. The paint's a bit faded, but from the pics it looks real nice!!!

Cool, all I know is that thing is a monster compared to my YJ. I think I'll see if the old man wants to ditch it for some chump change. Maybe a new trail rig. Maybe not. Thanks

... the CJ-6!

Introduced in 1956.
V-6, Inline-6 and V-8 engines were offered.
PTO!!!
101" wheelbase - 20" more than the CJ-5.

Wow! Looks like it is in really good shape? If you don't buy it, can I? :)

That thing is pretty cool looking! It would be a real unique vehicle! It looks like it doesn't have that rear overhang like the CJ8 does.

Looks like a CJ6, but from the pic I'm not able to see the seam lines of the body side panels that are prevelant with that model (about 18" of insert). Also, the rear wheelwell cut out looks to square. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that it is a homemade stetched CJ5 or M38 (notice the open cutout on the hood for a snorkel attachment, though early CJ5's came with that feature also). Check out the frame and you should be able to see what has been done.

There a picture in the Jeep Bible of a CJ-6 and the section of added body panels is clearly visible, although it also has the cut-out for the snorkel.

Hm, I have long hair, but am far away from being hired for a Playboy photoshooting, that's because I am from the exact other end of the sexual bandwidth! ;) Just ask my Jeep-Chick!

BTW, I edited my profile and added "gender = M" to the biography and occupation fields. Thanks.

Adam: That is a CJ-6. I don't think it is his but John Ferbrache owns that radiator shop. Use my name if you talk to him, we went to high school together. Us Old Men! BTW, John can probably show you how to change that U-joint.
