Well, I finally have my lights hooked up. Greg and I worked 10 hours last Saturday and another 12 yesterday, Thanks to Greg the install looks great. I can’t thank him enough, this was a major job and he never complained. Here you can see some of the stuff we removed. I can’t believe all the stuff that I carry, and it’s a little upsetting to see your WJ scattered in pieces ;)

Here you can see where Mediamixer put the relays. They are on the other side of the Sun Performance Air Tank, which is where the spare used to be.

Here you can see Greg beginning to wire through the wiring harness gromitt in the engine compartment.

The switches are hidden in the Ash Tray, the left switch controls the Hella 500’s, the center switch controls the Hella 1000’s (Black Magics), and the right controls the Hella 550’s.

Here are some pictures with the lights on, kind of blinding! I need to take more against a building, but since we finished near midnight, I thought that I would wait until another time :D

Here is a picture from three Saturdays ago, they weren’t hooked up at that time, but this is the best picture that I have right now that shows them installed on the rack.

There are more pictues, including some close ups of the wire routing in my photopoint account under Jeep Mods.

Now I have to get the lift, ARB and winch installed!

Lookin' good, George. Got a couple of Qs for ya:

1. Where did you mount the 550s (or, where will they mount)?

2. I checked out the pics on photopoint, and was wondering, from the spare tire well, did your wiring run under the carpet to the front console, then up to the ashtray switches?

3. How did you bring the wires from the lights into the rear cargo area, to the tire well?

I've read some different posts for routing a CB antenna cable into there, so just wondering how you did your lights.

They are on the Back of the rack.

Yes. Had to do it that way since my CB wire was on the drivers side, and amp was on the passeneger side. Spilt the difference and went right down the middle.

Through the hatch.

That's how I was planning to route mine (in through the rear hatch), and up the center under the console to the dash was something I'd considered, instead of around either side. 'Course, with a zj, I don't have that tire well to use for storage.

I recall someone mentioning that having lights mounted on the rear of the rack like that actually created a bad reflection off the rear glass, so they couldn't really see out the window very good. I guess that's not an issue with yours?

You've done a heckuva job so far. Thanks for sharin' the info & pics.

Just wondering but doesn't the hatch leak through the spot that you run the wires? or did you do something to keep water from entering up there?

Two nights ago we had 9 inches, yes nine inches of rain and no leaks! I know that it is not the best looking solution but it works.

Ton answer a earlier question: And I haven't noticed any glare on th eback window from the lights.

The Hellas look great! Wouldn't want you behind me with those things on :D

I put too much stuff up on my roof...skis, bikes, surfboard...to put lights up there too.
Im still researching light options for the ARB....Its come down to KC Daylighters (165w) or Lightforce RMDL170s
