For the longest time my voltmeter has been reading about 13-14 volts under normal daytime usage and my oil psi flutters around 60-80. Then one day my oil psi dropped to 20 and the voltmeter jumped to 15-16 volts. After that it went back to the original readings. Now, this past week it is staying on the "alternative" readings. I'm not so much concerned about the oil psi as much as I am about the voltage. The needle sits on the line between normal and overcharge. Anyone got this? What does your Voltmeter read while driving with nothing electrical running?

mine reads 0 it used to work then one day it stopped I just took a multi meter and checked it as long as you have between 13.5 and 14.5 I would say don't worry about it

Check all those pesky grounds. Make sure the body, engine, and frame all have GOOD continuity (grounds)

Amen on the grounds. I have a fiberglass body and still running around chasing grounds. I read about 14.8 volts running no lights or heater running.
Funny thing was sometime ago my meter was running about 12.5 volts after I started the Jeep until I turned the heater off then it junped up to 14.5v and then I could turn the heater back on and the voltage stay hi. I soon had the alternator rebuilt, they put in a 90 amp circuit in it without changing the case.
by the way. In the order of importance , I'd be a lot more woried about the oil pressure then the voltage.
