As someone who has been using the WWW since 1993, I'm beginning to feel a little embarrassed by not having my own home page.

I'd appreciate any suggestions for free web homes. I'd like to see at least these features:

Enough disk space to include some pictures.
A simple way of uploading HTML files and pictures (FTP or web based).
It mustn't require the use of a special application, like Frontpage. (I'm an old fart who still uses 'vi' to write HTML.)
Reasonably fast server.
Good up-time.
Preferably a free guestbook application.
Optionally an associated e-mail account.
The URL shouldn't be too complicated (I don't feel like spending $$$ for registering my own domain yet).

Please let me know what you guys use, and what the benefits are.

I have found a few that may be useful.

http://cf-developer.net/ is offering free hosting. Not sure how much space is available, but they are Cold Fusion Enabled.

http://www.chosenplanet.com/ also has 100MB of space, and the URL is yourusername.chosenplanet.com No lengthy URLs there.

I have not tried any of these.

Also, http://www.namezero.com has free domain names. I have one with them that I don't use yet. They put a small banner strip across the bottom of the site, but it's framed so not too annoying.

Dirtroad.com offers free home pages with an e-mail address. That's who my site is through. I haven't had any problems with them.
