Hello all!

I am a new Cherokee owner. Last weekend I purchased a 2001 Cherokee Sport (4dr. 4wd) and I love it!

As you all know, the goons at D-C have decided not to produce the Cherokees any more and I was not able to find THE Jeep that I wanted. :( However, I persevered and found one that I am happy with.

One of the things that I want that my Cherokee does not have is a CD player. I can't imagine why, but the factory system has a cassette player, not a CD player. The dealer told me that if I installed my own non-factory unit, that I would void the "electrical" warranty, but she said that she could install a CD-changer for me (for a nifty price). She said that the controls for a Changer were pre-wired and therefore it would not void the warranty.

Does anyone have any input on this? Do any of you know which CD-Changer will work with my factory stereo? Do you know where the wires are run for the cd-changer?

Thanks for your help-

Greg

Tell your dealer to put down the crack pipe. If you install an aftermarket cd player the only portion of the warranty you will void is the warranty for the original radio and possibly the speakers especially if you ad an amp. If you have questions about warranties do a search for the Magnuson-Moss warranty act.

The dealer is definitely trying to bank more cash off of you. Your warranty shouldn't be voided.

Grab a wiring harness from wherever you buy your stereo. Match up the wires, and the stereo plugs right into your existing harness. No harm to the Jeep. And, if something does go seriously wrong with the electrical system, you can easily toss in the oem stereo for warranty work.
