So, I've been curious about this for some time.
The 5.9 Limited is restricted to 5000 lbs towing capacity, while the 5.2L has 6500 (in 4WD version) towing capacity.
Seeing as the chassis is the same, braking is the same, and I would assume cooling capacity is the same, why would a more powerful engine result in less towing capacity?
Secondly, if it's a cooling issue, which is the only likely scenario I can forsee, what options are available to correct this? What size rad will fit into the stock chassis, and what about adding in oil coolers and tranny coolers (apparently the 5.9 Limited doesn't have a tranny cooler??) as well.
I need to tow my race car / trailer, and the total package is likely to be about 5000lbs, give or take a few pounds. What path is likely to get my towing capacity up to equivalence with the 5.2L version?
