There's a ton of information flying around over on the JU Liberty board concerning different tires, lift, wheel combos etc. It's hard for a newbie like me to make sense out of all of it. It's also difficult to sort through who's actually DONE something with their KJ vs. people giving their opinions on tires. Since you've got a good understanding of what's what in tires, perhaps you could either consolidate some of the real information on those posts (specifically for KJ drivers) or set up a sophisticated poll that would capture, from people who had actually done it, exactly what lift, tire, wheel combos they were running on their rigs. [Kind of a three dimensional poll]

Plus, by having the actual info over here on ILJ, it will be around a lot longer for people to consult.

Just a thought.

Cheers!

Good idea, but I'm not sure I have time right now to sift through the info that's out there.
Anybody else interested in doing it?

yeah, I know what you mean.

BTW - my sister visited the thread about the mudhole earlier and said her virus detection software reported a virus.

Odd. There's no htm or exe attachments or anything else a virus can ride on. Did she say which virus was detected? There are a number of things that can cause a false alert, including a direct attack on her system using a port probe or a trojan horse. It could also be a overly cautious response to a banner script or something.

she didn't say.
but others have reported it too; see this thread
http://forums.jeepsunlimited.com/ubb/Forum21/HTML/001617.html

she did say something about "it tried to execute a script but she didn't see a specific virus named; she just exited out". I'd think it was the overzealous virus protection except that the others reported it too. i have the same virus protection she does and mine did not go off (several hours later). Go figure.

P.S. You can delete this entire thread after you have read it since it has no lasting redeeming social value.

I think I have the virus problem taken care of....seems to have been a funky ad (cough cough CARPARTS cough cough).

As for the FAQ of info, I will try to compile something for the main ILJ site...actually create a Liberty tech section.

If you know folks who have done mods and write-ups have them contact me. I will put the articles up and create the section, I just need the content.

Also still kicking around the idea of an Project KJ if I can get a willing participant and enough time to do the leg work on getting products lined up.

Chris, I know you were interested. Would like to find someone willing to go whole hog on this and be willing to install, test and review anything I can get my hands on.

Understandable. The wife has said I can do anything except a lift, and a lift would make the project rig look more attention getting.

Hi, Tiffster.
Glad you got the so-called "virus" sorted out. I couldn't figure out why my sister got it and I don't.

I'll take a stab at writing up my meager experiences with additions to the KJ; I've actually been posting them in bits and pieces all along on JU and ILJ.

As for a KJ for trying out stuff; I might be interested. My problem is convincing my wife I need to spend money on stuff :-) and I am definitely interested in a lift, all the armor I can get, and good tires, etc. I'd even be glad to display ILJ or sponsor logos if I got free stuff. Only two problems I can see: (1) I'm in Seattle area and (2) I'm not much a of a mechanic. But maybe that's an angle? [If I can do it, anyone else can too.] Let me know. Also, I like to write, so I could easily do writeups and followups to my experiences. I'm planning on using the KJ as a daily driver but would like to go as agressive as possible in the off-road capable direction without compromising the basic vehicle/warranty.

A Dr. Jeckle / Mr. Hyde KJ?

Chris-
Can you check my logic on this post
http://forums.jeepsunlimited.com/ubb/Forum21/HTML/001614.html

I've taken a statement made by someone else that a certain tire would fit and tried to identify the other tires just within that size diameter.

Thanks

Makes sense to me.
