Ok, this is the first time that I have ever actually done this. And it will be on my wife's 95 XJ Country. I am almost sure ti is the same as on my 99TJ, but the people in the XJ forum just don't want to wake up so maybe you can all help...
She has a bad noise in the front brakes, it looks like it is making a groove in the rotor, so not sure if it will have to be machined(turned)...although she has 63k on the XJ so I am guessing it would be just as easy to replace them if I take them off...right?
So is it as easy as:
1: lifting jeep
2: removing tires
3: push in piston/remove bolts/raise caliper
4: unsnap old pads
5: check rotor(disc)/ and here is where I get lost about taking the rotor off.....in my TJ Fac Serv. Manual it has the nutlock and cotter pin, in haynes for the XJ it just says to remove the two lugs I have holding it on. either way will this just slide off, and will a new one be just as easy to put back on?
after that I am guessing it is just reversing the steps and putting the pads in, then the caliper back on, then wheel and lower.
Do I have to bleed the brakes or can I leave the tube attached to the caliper and just make sure it doesn't disconnect or hang by it?
and is there any other advice that you would suggest that I make sure I watch out or do?
Thanks for the help!
