Emergency brake doesn't work

I pull up the lever and I can drive around with it up. I got under and tried to tighten up that nut to pull it closer, but it is as far as it is going to go.
I need to get it fixed because I failed inspection(I have to go to the same place that failed me to get the inspection sticker).

Any ideas?

There are other things to check if the emergency brake is not holding. Inspect your rear brakes to ensure the brake shoes are not worn or contaminated, the drums are within specs and emergency brake adjuster between the shoes (at the bottom) is not jammed.

a coworker of mine had the same problem. Ended up being the pads were extremely worn!!!:eek:

How easy is it to pull up? If it is extremly easy, you need to drop them with a bracket. Take it to a brake shop that is GOOD and have them check it out. If not go to your local 4x4 store and check it out.
