6" coils, no spacers, long arms, all thanks to Dan McKeag at Burnsville Offroad. It'll start about 2-3 weeks from now.

I'll have to find a substitute to photopoint before then, so that I can keep a photo log.

Congrats Henley! I met you at the Northwoods JJUSA. I have the Desert Sand TJ w/ 35" MT/R's - we did the same trail the first day! Dan is a great guy - he did a fair amount of work for me - all the axle work and basically supplied me with everything else! Whose kit are you using to do the Long Arm on your WJ?

Todd, I sure do remember you!! You had ARB airlockers, and walked through those trails as if you were driving down someone's driveway! Beautiful TJ, if I am remember the correct one. Body coloured ARB bullbar?

Anyway, that trail was the first real debugging run, and I have since had some more trimming etc done, which has worked better in subsequent offroad trips. But the stock location of the control arms wasn't really working out. Dan is going to be using parts from various TJ kits, and doing a fair amount of fabbing. He will be writing it up on his website, and it is also going to be covered in some 4x4 magazine, I believe. I can't wait! :)

Henley,

You remembered me correctly! Your WJ will be unbelievable after this is done! I can hardly wait to see the pics! Having your WJ written up in a magazine is a pretty cool thing - that gives you an idea of how much work you have really done to it to get it so it performs so well! I've never seen another WJ that looks as good and has the capability of yours!

Congrats on a great vehicle! i'll be watching Dan's website!

I've seen a lot of crazy stuff come out of Burnsville. Looks like they do really good work. I think I might have to stop by there and check it out next time I'm back in MN visiting family.

Todd, I still am lusting after some ARB airlockers, but have decided to hold off on the axle mods for now... :D

Dave, there is always something crazy going on at BVOR. It is basically the only real 4x4 shop in the twin cities metro area, so it serves a wide region, extending into Wisconsin, and large parts of MN and IA. Consequently, there is a lot going on at this one shop.

Henley,

I thought you were locked up. Do you have the factory Vari-Lok axles?

I do love the ARB airlockers!:D

Todd, I have the varilok axles that is true. They are better than limited slips or open diffs, but still don't compare to the real thing!

In fact I was watching the video of that trail that we shared, and you can see that you were the only one who crawled over everything with no drama or spinning. The QD equipped grands (EXTremist was in the gold one) were fine, and worked most of the time. I have noticed, however, that if I have one wheel in the air, and the other on a high traction surface, that the QuadraDrive usually gives up. And that is why eventually I would like ARB airlockers. There aren't any available for the aluminium D44, though, so I would have to do an axle swap. Then the front, I would need new axle shafts since the varilok diffs introduce an asymmetry.

Henley,

It sounds like you are formulating a plan. How did you get a video of the trail run - I would love to have a copy of the video. They told me they weren't doing an event video this year?!

Todd, I got it from Beth for $20. A great video of the Zephyr trail rides, Fri & Sat. The video was better than I expected. As I said, it looked too easy for you, but we love watching your TJ make it look so easy!

You are welcome to borrow my copy, if you can't get hold of Beth. EXTremist on the forum here, can make copies too. Maybe we could ask him to make a copy for you and then mail it to you.

I put a thread out to try and reach EXTremist!

Thanks Henley - I'm going to have to hang out here more often now that I know some people!
