Heat would be Nice!

I have a heater that is useless. I figure the problem has something to do with the heater core but when I went to remove it I noticed they installed it so the heads were facing the firewall. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to avoid pulling the dash out to get to it.

To remove the heater box, I had to remove four nuts on the engine side of the firewall (one was in behind the motor). I kinda had to wrestle with the defroster hose to get the heater box out. I'm not sure if I had to remove the glove box or radio. It's a pain! You might consider a Blazer heater motor upgrade while you're at it.
