How much shorter is the dana 300 compared to the stock np231?

The 300 is gear driven, it doesent rely on a chain to transfer power, that alone makes it much stronger. As far as the case goes, the NP231 has an aluminum case I believe. The 300 is cast.

Im not sure cause I haven't measure mine yet, but I know its shorter than an Atlas II

My apologies...I misread the question, I thought you asked how strong an np231 is compared to a 300, dont quote me on this the figures are not exact but I believe that it is around 6" shorter than a stock NP231, around 4" shorter than a 231 w/SYE, and about 1.5" shorter than an atlas. Hope this helps
