Specs for tightening the '98 left outer to the vehicle

Hi, I'm trying to do a ZJ Tierod Conversion on my TJ and have hit a snag. I'm sure one of you guys/gals has a FSM with the torque specs for that nut (drivers side - "left outer"). I'm having a problem as to where I cannot get the cotter pin hole w/o running the risk of stripping the thread (or so my mechanic says).

What do you mean, can't get the cotter pin hole? Can't get the castellated nut to line up with the hole? Use a washer under the nut. If you can't get the tapered bolt seated enough, remove it and reseat it.

Do not go over 35pounds of torque on those things. Call the vender you go the conversion from.
