Trying to decide between a Kargomaster and ConFerr for my WJ.

I have a Yakima bike rack and it howled horribly before I put the fairing on. I really don't want to run the fairing with a safari rack (it would look silly).

Anyway - who has what rack and how much wind noise do they make?

Thanks

First off, let me welcome you to ILJ,

Second...I recently saw a 97 ZJ (actually looks just like mine) with the Yakima fairing with a safari rack...The Jeeper kept one of the factory bars fore of the safari rack to support the fairing. I must say that it looked ok to me, and with the wind whistle that you wont get, was rather functional too.

EDIT: BTW: while I'm not sure about the ConFerr racks, the Kargomasters are compatible with the Yak mounting systems. That is the bars on the KM fit the clips for the Yaks.

I've got wind noise with my Con Ferr, and have looked into adding a fairing. As Zac indicated, you also would use one of the factory bars in front, and (IIRC), mount the fairing brackets directly to the Con Ferr. I think I have a better description bookmarked at home from (Duff?) - I can check later.

What I'd like to know is, does having a set (or two) of lights mounted on the rack cut out some/most/all of the wind noise? Also, I've got a plywood floor that I'm going to install, and maybe that will cut some of the noise, also.
