I got a set of Pro Comp MT 265/75-16 and had them installed today. Did some plastic trimming and metal bending but they seem to fit so far. We'll see what happens whe I take them off-road. [Still waiting on longer struts.]

Pictures are on the New Tires page on my webpage.

Looks good I think.
Did you buy them special for offroad driving?
How do they sounds at 60 Mls/h?

Yes.

My KJ has always sounded like it has mud tires at 60 MPH; it's the wind noise from the roof rack cross rails (Yakima). Now it FEELS that way too :)

You know, I took some other pictures that gave more perspective but my camera ate them. In particular, since I had the old tires (as in those in picture 2) laying there on the driveway, I stacked 2 up alongside the rock rails. That would be about 19" tall. The rock rails were just alongside the top of the second tire so that you could get some perspective on the clearance. Of course, in the front, I could only stuff 1 tire. Unfortunately, neither picture "stayed" in the camera. [I need a new camera.]

A couple people asked me how the tires were working out. I haven't been able to take them offroad yet; I'm waiting on th efront struts from Rusty's. Should be just a few weeks ...

As for on-road, they're doing fine; I still hit the plastic when backing out of the driveway in the morning (bump and full turn at the end); I'm still trying to decide where else to trim. On the road and on highway they're fine. I got used to the change in handling after about 2 days. Yesterday I was coming home on the 520 floating bridge and had to make a panic lane change - they did great. Up until then, I was wondering how they might handle because they feel "soft" [haven't experimented with air pressure yet either] but when I had to swerve into the other lane, they "dug in" and handled quite well. No real noticeable swaying or anything.

I might take them out to Reiter Pit this weekend and take it easy (so as not to be constantly topping out the struts); I'll let you know if I do.

Also, when I'm all done "trimming" I hope to post some kind of description of what I had to cut.

Someone asked about the door for the fog lights: In my case, it's gone. But if I had been more proactive about it, I think I could have saved it. It caught on the tire when I was still at the shop and I just told them to lop it off; I could have perhaps fastened it down and forward a little bit to keep it. But it didn't matter to me. Not sure whether the wires would have been affected as I don't have the fog lights. I'd say that, if the wires are low and under the door, then they would be affected.

If you're thinking about putting 32's on, you might also talk to Rusty; I think he was putting some on his new (Black?) KJ. Rocky Road might have also, I'm not sure.

If you're thinking about putting 33's on, forget it. [Nobody's allowed to be taller than me. :D]

At least not till a taller lift comes out. Again, ask Rusty about how much more tire he thinks would fit under the 5.5" lift. I'm not really sure.
