View Full Version : How Big Of A Tire Can Fit On Yj With Tj Sahara Flares?
Alright guys! I located and have purchased some TJ Sahara flares. I am going to need new tires pretty quick, and I can get some used ones really cheap from a guy who has 30's, 31's, and 32's...I just need to let him know quick because some guy is buying all his tires from him. How big of a tire can I get in there. I'd like to be able to do a little wheeling, but I don't do a whole lot. It's an unlifted Jeep, so what size tire will fit comfortably, and also the biggest!? Thanks guys...Also, is the backspacing of the stock TJ Gamblers alright for bigger tires? That's what I am running right now. THANKS IN ADVANCE...

Without a lift, probably nothing larger than 30's. Maybe 31's if you don't wheel offroad much.
The stock Gambler wheels should be fine since they're 8" wide.

I know someone who has tj flares on their yj ... If you mount the flares flush (or as close as possible), ad trim off some metal, you can clear 31's. You will have to adjust your steering stops unless you don't mind your tires rubbing the springs during tight turns.
I want a set for mine.

I saw a YJ with TJ flares and 31x11.5s (that is not a typo - 11.5s) It looked good, but I didn't get a chance to take a close look.

how hard is it to put tj flares on a yj? I was thinking about doing this mod myself.

Depends on how comfortable you are with cutting the body.
