View Full Version : Everyone at work is laughing at me!
Well, I'm topless here in Seattle(not by choice). I don't have a top at all for a week. I'm waiting on my sunrider. Well, my jeep got hailed on and rained on. I got out there to put a tarp over it but it really was too late. I got out there in time before it really started coming down though.
Everyone at worked seemed to get a good laugh out of it. I had a couple chuckles I guess. Now I have to drive home in about half an hour. :(
sounds like fun.

You know what that is. It's the stuff that brings traffic in your area to a complete standstill

I bet it's still funner to drive home in the Jeep than their cars!
In the spring I often get cought in rain with the top down.
Last spring I got many comments (positive and negative) from my coworkers when I would drive topless. Many couldn't understand my desire to put the top down in 50 degree and/or cloudy weather. I guess some of them just don't understand :D .
I haven't been topless yet this year. Dang MI weather, it was snowing yesterday.

Rain in Seattle, hmmmmmm, imagine that. :D It seems that whenever it is the worst possible time for rain, it rains. Hope you made it home high and dry EP.
Well, the ride home wasn't too bad but something happened that concernes me a little bit. I was stopped at a light and all of a sudden my alarm started going off.
It only happened once but I thought it was pretty strange. Should I be concerned about any of the wiring? My jeep was probably out in the rain for about an hour before I got to it. Or do you think if I just let it dry out everything will be fine?

I would think that just letting it dry should work good. Works with most electronics. I am new to this whole Jeep thing though. I went topless today here in NC. It finally got up to about 60degrees this pm with sunshine. I thought it was great. I put my hardtop back on tonight(rain tomorrow). Just ordered my super bikini from Quadratec today. My first Jeep purchase(since the Jeep itself that is).

I was putting speakers in my Dad's Trooper and so he took my Jeep so I could go to my house to install them. I had the driver and passenger windows taken out and the back window out. They were stored at my house. It started to rain, I finished up the installation as soon as it did. I called my Dad, he had left the Jeep at his house and gone out with some friends of his. I rushed to the house with my windows as soon as I got there the rain stopped. My Jeep had about a 1/2 a foot of rain in it. Nothin' a little shop vac couldn't take care of. It was sunny the next day so I took the top off and propped up the carpets and let it all dry. Lesson learned.

Well, today I finally got to take the bikini top off of my TJ. Temps climbed up into the mid-70's here. I had to ride around an entire month with just the bikini, waiting for this day to get here. :D

Yep, learned the same lesson last summer, the first one I had the honor of owing a Jeep and got deep water in the tub. Take out the floor plugs unless you plan to do some stream crossings. Then take them back out when you are done playing boat. Just soggy carpets that way, not water over the shoes. Before I treated myself to a $10 yard sale shop vac I'd hit the carwash and use their pay vac. Bet they loved that.

I had the top down also, but man was it muggy. Once the sun went down, I got some friends and another vehicle and went up to Draper. Managed to get the interior muddy. This is gonna be fun to clean up.

Was a bit muggy around 4:00 or so wasn't it? I took the bikini off at work so I could at least enjoy the weather a bit before heading off to the second job. Drive home this evening at 10:30 was nice though.
BTW, probably won't be able to get down to your place until around 6:00 on Wednesday. Got a friggin' meeting at work that won't let me get away until 5:00 or so. I'll see you then.

Sucks being caught in a heavy downpour when your topless. I've only had that happen once - our monsoons can be pretty severe, but if you drive two blocks it will be dry.
I've been topless for a few weeks now - it's been in the mid to upper 80's during the day, and low 50's at night. Perfect...except it's supposed to rain later this week.:(

Ive had the top and doors off for about 3 weeks, had to put the doors back on today, only because it was foggy and raining when I got up this morning.. the one downfall to fabric seats.. they soak up all the rain.. oh well.. Ive determined that my top is not going back on until next fall!

It's fun to drive in the rain topless. I went to Louisiana with a friend several years ago to visit with his family and pick up some of his stuff to bring back. Not having enough room inside his YJ, we thought we were being smart by taking the top down and strapping stuff to the rollbars. Of course we didn't turn on the tv to see what the weather would be like for our 900+ mi drive. I think it rained on us for 6 or 7 hours! It wasn't too bad while we were moving, but boy did we get some looks on the interstate. I can't blame them though, we were quite a sight to see driving down the road looking like the Beverly Hillbillys with a ton of crap hanging out everywhere. LOL! We probably had enough stuff for two trucks! At least it was summer.

A co-worker just came in to tell me that its odd to see my Jeep with the doors and top on this time year.
I geuss the people at my work use a the first sign of spring.
:DLOL:D
Topless, eh? We still have a foot of snow in the yard! It's supposed to hit 40 today, anyway. I've gotten my share of grief from guys at work when I show up topless. More than once I've had to run out to the parking lot to put the top back up, but I also don't trust anyone anymore when they say it's raining! :D

That's quite alright EP. Let 'em laugh at you. But, when there is so much rain, that the area starts to flood (perhaps, once in a while there?), you will be getting home fine. All the while, their little Yugos, festivas, and other low sitting vehicles are taking on water, like a sinking ship.
A couple of summers ago, here in Savannah, we had some serious rain. It was something like 11" in 12 hours. People here, early in the day, were looking at me like I was crazy. I just had a bikini top on my Jeep. However, the look seemed to change, when others needed my help, to get out of the three foot water, in the area.
They don't call this Savannah for nothing! :)
edit: Oh, also, since I keep my top off, during the summer (from about april-nov), I purchased the Bestop Trailmax Pro seats. I got the vinyl ones, for that very reason. They may be hotter to sit on, but will last longer than cloth.

I'm sitting here at work by the beach wondering if these clouds are going to open up, or go away.. My boss's wife calls me the freak of nature for driving in the morning with the top down.. I just got my jeep and for the life of me can't figure out how I survived this long with a top on my car....

Topless the last 48 hrs in Denver. Gotta love it but rain/snow forecast for tomorrow PM.
Afternoon showers are always a threat here, particularly in the mountains. My solution
wastro buy a couple of waterproof ponchos to keep in the Jeep. Got them from a
western wear catalog. (Cowboys are always topless in all kinds of weather.)
They are waxed cotton--lite weight, easy to clean, hooded. Keep off the rain and give you
something dry for the tush until the seat dries out. I just keep them in a gym bag with some
extra sweaters, sweatshirts, etc which also come in handy with our changeable weather.

I remember a few years ago, when I was driving an '87 YJ, I parked my Jeep here at work with just the bikini on. It was bright and sunny at lunchtime, but by 2:30 we had a monster downpour! Colorado!!
By the time I realized it was raining, all I could do was look forlornly out the window at my poor Jeep as the rain came down. By the time the rain stopped, I had more than an inch of water in the tub!
I just pulled the drain plugs, toweled off my seat (my co-workers laughed at me, too) and drove home! I did have to pull all the carpets and hang them to dry for a couple days, but I didn't lose any electricals, and even my stereo survived. I love Jeeps.
