Well as many of you know. I ordered a new 2001 TJ Sport a while back and have gotten several different dates on when it was built and estimated ship dates etc from my dealership.

I just got home from the dealership and my Jeep did not ship as it was supposed to on March 29th. (was originally supposed to ship on the 22nd)

So I got upset and started making some phone calls. I got the VIN# From my dealership on the new Jeep and called Chrysler. I spoke with a representative from there and got a whole different story then the info my dealership had received on the status of my Jeep. Yes it has been built. But not on March 18th like I originally had been told.

According to Chrysler it was put in the build process (paperwork phase) on March 15th, Actual Manufacturing of the Jeep began on March 27th and my Jeep was completed on April 2nd. It has now been transferred over to the Rail Car company (Norfolk Southern) that handles delivery of Jeeps from the Toledo Ohio plant.

I got the number for them from Chrysler. I then called Norfolk Southern and was going to find out the ship status from them, however it was too late in the day (them being on EST) and I am going to have to call them tomorrow.

Anyhow, if there are any other frustrated people out there waiting on their new Jeep to arrive, here is the process to track its production.

Ask your dealer what the VIN# is for your new vehicle.

Contact Chrysler or Call them at:
DaimlerChrysler Customer Assistance Center
P. O. Box 21-8004
Auburn Hills, MI 48321-8004
1-800-992-1997

You will then find out actual dates build/ship processes have happened.

Then contact:

Norfolk Southern
1-888-649-9273

Give them the VIN# for your Jeep (also the rail car info if you were able to get it from Chrysler) and find out Ship Dates from them.

Hope this helps anyone else who is as frustrated as I am. At least this post has allowed me to vent a little and possibly help others.
