I don't believe in hate crime legislation. Even suggesting it pisses me off. You're telling me that someone who is a minority, gay, disabled, another nationality, or otherwise different from the mainstream of this country has more value as a human being that I do as a white female.
Hell, if someone kills anyone, I'd say that's a hate crime.

I like the convenience of buying oranges while I'm waiting at a stoplight, and I'm pretty sure the Latin midget selling them to me is glad she no longer lives in a refrigerator box in East Dallas.

The underlying theme here is CAUSALITY. If you are black and i kill you then too **** bad- no hate crime; however, if i kill you because you are black then that is a hate crime. If i steal your purse because you are a vulnerable woman then is that a hate crime? this is a debated issue. you may be preyed upon because you are a woman or you may be preyed upon because you have a purse. the former would constitute a hate crime and the latter would not. there are also other issues involved but you must understand that minorities don't have priority over your white @$$...

Reminds me of my favorite t-shirt It has an American flag and says in big letters "Welcome to America" then underneath in small letters it says "now speak english". I wore it to my neighborhood video store and they refused to rent to me, said I was a racist. I tried to explain that learning the language was important and a common courtesy to no avail then I realized I didn't want to support their business anyway.
