This thing is a pain in the *ss to put on. Do any of you have any tips on holding the nut if the mount? Thanks a lot.

A small box end wrench fits in there. That's how I did it;)

Same as Rick. A box end fits just into the frame. Slimmer is better -- I used a Proto, but I'd imagine most brands should slip in there.

I tried that but I can not get the wrench to stay on the nut.

One trick might be to masking tape the nut to the wrench (just across the top of the nut and down the sides of the box end or open end), then move the bolt around to align it to the thread of the nut while you're holding the wrench/nut inplace. You might need the willing help of a significant other or buddy next door to support the plate.

I managed to use a open ended wrench to keep downward pressure on the nut until the bolt caught and began to thread. After that, it tightened up with a bit more pressure until it began to snug up, allowing me to retract the wrench.
