I have been frequenting severral other forums and am finding that most of the ricer boards (yeah, I look at the ricer boards) have an area of regional forums (midwest, sotuh, east coast....).

I have had this idea in the back of my head for a long while and am wondering if this is something you guys might like to give a try.

Basically it will help you guys get together with local to you folks, plan trail rides and meet and greets.

No special access or anything, everyone could post in any of the forums, but it will help out a bit.

What are your thoughts???

The current "Trail Runs and Gatherings" forum seems to be sufficient right now. I just looked and there were only 19 threads for the past 30 days.

As ILJ continues to grow it may become a necessity, but I kinda like having it all in one forum so I can see what kind of trails they have in different parts of the country.:) Who knows, maybe one of these days I'll actually be able to drive my Jeep on vacation:evil: and check some of them out.....

I agree with Dan. Maybe this could be revisited in the future if the 'Trails and Gatherings' picks up a lot of volume, but for right now it seems to slow to fragment this way.

Sometimes I think it would be nice, but to be honest, right now I think it would be more hassle than its worth. The trail ride forum is sufficient and is actually slow moving. I can't see where a regional forum would be faster at organizing trailrides.

Also I can't see how you would seperate the regions.

I agree with the other guys.

I agree. This forum still has that "small town" feel to it. Kinda like another board I am on ... used to have.

Keep it simple, as long as you can.

Just $0.02 from a loud-mouth-lurker....

Good idea, but I think there's already a bunch of local sites out there... for example here in the Chicago area, we have Chicago4x4.com, and a whole bunch of e-mail lists (midwest_jeep, et et et).

I don't know... I always kinda thought of ILJ as a "Colorado" er... "out-west" site....

Not true at all. I really wish folks would stop saying that. Just because the site was started by a few folks from Colorado doesn't make it a Colorado only site...we have Colorado 4x4 for that.

There are far more members here from around the world than there are from Colorado. Something like 5:1, possibly 6:1 on that ratio.

I will not be adding regional forums...or any other forums for a long while. I have looked at a few other forums who insist on adding new forums for every new topic that pops up and it looks a mess. Things are moving along great here and I want to keep that going.

I certainly agree with you Tiff. The "small" town feel I have ... is with the members you have here now.

Most smaller boards have the feeling anyway ... until they get thousands of members ... to me.

I agree with boths sides... but I think if ya added the reginal inside the "trail runs and gatherings" sections... it may get more hits... people may start posting more if they have a better idea of where some the events are happening... and it would diffently get rid of that "colorado" stigma....
just my 2 cents...

I like the regoinal thing about trips, but not enough to cause anybody anywork -- what about creating a "sticky" over there to have the thread originator include a region "code" and date in the original thread's title -- kinda like the ForSale area

That way folks could look at the thread tile and determine if they were in the "ME" (Mid-East or wherever) on whatever date and figure if they wanted to read or not...

{I always thought that the regional stuff on the ricer boards was to identify what kind of bass-boppin' music was in your 8-track deck - kinda keepin' the east-coast and west-coast peeps in their own- know what I'm sayn'?}

In the famous words of Shaq, " it is perfect, there is no such word a perfecter or pefectist." When you have a good thing to many mods just **** it up. Things are great the way they are. Why fix what isn't broken????????

Based onthe number of people I see on here from different parts of the country...I think it would be a great idea...as far as finding trail runs and such, i think it would be beneficial to those not in a 4x4 club...my 2 cents
