I sent a TrueTrac an email though their customer service page on there web site asking when the Electro Locker will be available to the public. Here's the reply I got.

When this list is completed our sales department will decide what units will

I've been waiting for these for quite a while!!!!! Glad to hear they are ready to distribute!!! The cost doesn't surprise me either, but hey, ya still save the cost of adding air. Thanks for sharing the info.

Well they sure priced it according to what else is available in the market, since it's not much more complex than the Truetrac it's based on. Does it still operate as a LSD until you push the button to lock it up???

YES! That's actually one of the biggest advantages to this set-up. If you blow an ARB, at BEST, you have an open diff. If you loose your electricals on the electric locker, you still have a very capable LSD.

Thanks! I have read a few writeups on it but I'm not sure if that ability was emphasized so thanks for confirming that function is still there. Dang, I wish Tractech would come out with upgrade kits since I'm already running front and rear Truetracs in my TJ.

That's awesome. I might have to regear and get lockers sooner than I planned. Where is that pre-approved credir card application I got yesterday? lol:D

Hmmm ... good things come to those who wait? Perhaps I should do the same ...

This is the route I think I'll be going. Too bad I can't do it for at least a year, after I get a real job.
At least by then all the bugs sould be worked out.

Tractech just replied back to me with the following bad news on upgrading existing Truetracs...
"The new "Electrac" unit has a carrier that is made to fit the locking parts so the Truetrac's will not be upgradeable."
Bummer!
Yah, I figured that being upgradable was too much to ask! They sure seem like the best of both world, though!!! I'll just have to be happy with what I have!
