Is the prices on CJ-7 creeping upwards for rust free or nearly rust free jeeps?

I live in the north east corridor and they are all rusted out and they STILL want top dollar form them. (Top dollar for me is when they ask for 5000$ for a jeep with bubbles on the side panels and holes in the floor.)

Chance, it just depends where you are. Here in south-central PA,I'd expect a CJ7 with bubbly sides and floors to be ~$2500 - $3500 if everything else was OK.

Check on Ebay, there's an '83 CJ7 in Hamburg, PA that was at about $2800 on Wednesday...

A recent glance at the paper here in Denver, Co. showed that if it's a CJ7, it's worth over $3500. I'm not sure that all of them are selling, but the Jeep craze is hot here and many people want one. Things may begin to change a little since the economy isn't fairing so well. Probably the best way to find a deal right now is to look for one that has been a long time project for someone who has grown tired of having it set in the garage or driveway unfinished. CJ5 do seem to be a little less expensive however.

I guess you could say that more understand the "Jeep Thing" that the stickers may indicate.

Some guy tried a big pile of rust for $1500.I guess it used to be a CJ7 But I am not sure:D . If it says jeep on it people jack up the price, even for junk.
:(

( Still looking for the widowed-farmers wife with the mint condition '79 CJ7 in the barn selling it for $300 but since I am a nice young man she lets it go for $100 ;) )

After spending time and money driving all over ny and pa for al the peices for my jeep project I have been seeing dirt cheap jeeps in the paper. two 1988 jeeps one running and on the raod for 950 and another one running off the road going for 350. Now i see a complete cj7 with fiberglass body going for 1500. where were all these deals when i needed them.
Just my rant

It has been my experience that when I don't have money or I'm not looking, I find kick a$$ deals. When I'm looking or in need of something, I can't find what I'm looking for or it's so over priced it's nutz...

That would explain the CJ-8 this spring and the D44 and 304-equipped CJ-7 last week...broke. Broke, broke, broke...

Know your stuff, point out all the problems and just offer less. I just bought a pretty decent 1981 CJ7 about a month ago here in rust free Kalifornia which was listed at $3900. Yes it had a lift and 35" tires but the steering needed work, brakes were gone and it needed smog parts. So, after pointing out what all needed to be done, I offered $1700 for it and ultimatly bought it for $2000. Here's what it looks like...
