I just put 31's on my 89 Wrangler with no problem but I have a buddy that is wondering if they'll fit on his (He's in Northern CA or we'd just try it). His is also an 89 but he still has the original springs (The previous owner replaced mine (why with stock I have no idea)) and they're pretty much flat straight across. He has no suspension mods or body lifts. The question is, will 31's fit on his rig to drive on the street until he can get a 2.5 lift? He needs to get tires now and can't afford both.

Yes, but they'll rub on speed bumps.

Rub Horribly, or just enough to be annoying? The whole point here is the jeep will get a 2.5 lift in another three months, no point buying smaller tires if it's something he can live with without tearing anything up. Unfortunately his current tires can't wait three months to get replaced..

Just anoying. I've got a buddy with 31s on his stock YJ and he is fine as long as he doesn't flex it too much.
