I have a 1980 CJ-5 ih its stock four cylinder and it has for about the last 3 weeks been running on two or three cylinders and sometimes all four when its hot. So far I have replaced the control module, the rotor, the distrubitor cap, the sprk plug wires (3 times) and the spark plugs. The unusual part is when I get in it in the morning it runs on four cylinders then after about 10mins of regular driving it goes down to three and if i continue driving it goes down to two.

I did a sompression check on it and it read
1st cylinder :90
2nd cylinder 110
3rd cylinder: 115
4th cylinder: 95

I was planning on just replacingit with a 350 but since i dont have money trees it won't be for a couple months so i anyoneh any ideas about what the problem is i would love some information.

Thanks
Russ

Also if anyone knows of a goo trqansmission to put on a jeep when puttin in a 350 it wouild be appreciated.

You might have a valve that is sticking. We had a old Honda that had a sticking valve that did the same thing. I'm not sure how to check this without pulling the head but I'm sure someone knows.
