This summer was the summer of restoring my dad's 71 CJ5. Next summer is MY TIME.
I'm looking all over for a CJ8 (Scrambler), 81-85
I think I know most of what I wanna do, but want some people's opinions and some more info.
Feel free to state any opinion.
Engine - I'll use whatever engine comes in it for a while but wanna definetly upgrade it later. What are some great easy swap ins that have reasonable MPG and HP?
Tranny- 4 or 5 Speed manual, what models?
T-Case- Not a clue
Should I go EFI or a 4 bbl Carberator? Remember Need a balance between HP and Mileage
K&N Filter will be a must, same with a larger exhaust. I'm at 8000 feet so gotta have some air
Tires - 33/9.50(10.50)R15 but I'd prefer 16-17" rims
Lift -
1" Body Lift
2.5" Skyjacker Lift (or similar brand)
.5" Shackle Lift
If I get a winch, should I have helper springs in the front for the load?
Anyone have a clue what bolts and spacers I would need for a T-Case drop on a 4" lift?
What gearing should I have for a highway driver/trailrider (not rockclimber)?
Thanks for your time fellow Jeepers
