Will 32's fit on stock 15" rims and how much backspacing is needed in order to get full turn without rubbing? (for 98 XJ)
TIA

They'll fit, but you'll need at least 4 1/2 inches of lift to fit them in there. As for the backspacing I'm not quite sure. I would venture to say 4.5, but I'm sure someone else could speak to the backspacing better than I.

You can fit 33" on a 3.5 lift w/3.5 backspacing so I would think that 32" would be the same. OR get out the hacksaw and go at it.
Another one would to put a 3" body lift. I like the finder hacking my self. Good luck.

Thanks guys,
I just installed the RE 4.5 lift. Im deciding on 32x11.5x15 with backspacing or 31x10.5x15. But I think that the 31's may be too small for a 4.5 lift.

I ran 31x10.50's on 4.5" of lift, on my last XJ. They were fine.http://imagem.webphotos.iwon.com/1000015060/1000015060_1118200172748PM0.38435

Which rim? The subject says 32x11.50, and a 15x7 rim might be a bit narrow. You'll get a big sidewall bulge and are more likely to rub although the sidewall bulge will protect the rim a bit better. 15x8 might be a better choice here.

That pic didnt work but is there any comparison pics of a 4.5 lift with 31, 32, and 33's on stock rims?

Correct me if i'm wrong, but i think the stock rims are 15x7. Anybody running 11.5 on stock 15x7's recommend Backspacing size?

The pic should work, now.

If you can show him how to put a 3" body lift on his XJ then you will be a millionaire.
To answer your question, yes the tires will work on the stock rims, just adjust your steering stops. A better answer though is to go with rims with at least 4.5" backspacing. I runn 33s on 15x7 rims with 4" of backspacing. Who knows how much lift I have now, could be 6" could be more, could be less. But I have not trimmed anything, simply adjusted my bumpstops to keep the tires off the flares.

YOU can do any THING that you won't..........NOW would that be the best solution to the problem NO but anythinggggggg can be done. So if I can get an XJ and put a 3" body lift on it will you"Tiffster" be the one that is righting the check?
Victor was looking for info and I gave him my suggestions to get the 3” he needs to put 32”’s on his rig. I am NO expert and only offered MY .02 to help him get started.
YOU CAN DOOOOOOOO ITTTTT. Think positive.

No, you CAN NOT put a body lift on an XJ. It's a unibody and has no frame!!!!
Basic XJ info. Period.

Lifting a vehicle that doesn't have a frame would take many hours of fabrication to pull off and quite an investment to say the least. It would be a good idea to choose a different route when attempting to gain more clearance.

Like I said before where there is a will there is a way. Now you could put a unibody on a frame and then put the 3” body lift. ”Right” I agree that it is something that most people would NOT do BUT could be done. That is the only point I am making. If some like MOSTER GURAGE can make a VW bug into a swamp boat anything can be done. Now would victor do this “hell no” and with your knowledge he can rule out the body lift. WE all learn something new everyday. I now know that XJ’s are unibody frames and will never suggest that some put a body life on one. And that’s the fack jack. :D

My point was...if you don't know what you are talking about, then don't put out bad info.
A simple search of the forum will reveal numerous threads on why you can't put a body lift on an XJ. Simple Jeep 101.
Too many newbies take everything said seriously and we are trying to make sure the right info gets out there.

Good point...my statement was mostly a joke (though I'd try if someone came up with the cash) so I'll gladly withdraw my joke so that it's not misunderstood...

Whoa people!
All good point taken! Upnover_yj, your absolutly right, anything can be done... but some thing shouldn't. Like sleeping with the bosses wife or body lifting a XJ! You could, but shouldnt!
Thanks Tiffster. I'm pretty excited about the 4.5" RE lift I just installed and may look into getting the 32x11.5x15 this weekend. I'll get the 4" backspacing if I get them. I may go the 31x10.5 route though.
Thanks again all!
