Well, there are a few more jeepers who don’t think the Liberty is just a
‘grocery getter’ anymore..
Saturday morning we met up with 6 other wheelers to run the 4.0- rated
“Charoleau Gap” trail here in Tucson..
Everyone else had TJ’s or YJ’s and I am sure they were a little apprehensive
about a Liberty coming on this trail.. (prolly thinking,”I wonder how many
times we are going to be strapping this today..)
But, it did the whole trail just fine.. Good thing I had my RRO Rock Rails,
though..
It is a fairly demanding trail, with enough boulder fields and wallowy spots to
keep you on your toes..
You cross a creek several times and each time the descent into and out of the
creek was over and around boulders.. One time as I was descending into the
creek, all of a sudden the right front tire slipped off a rock and dropped about
a foot, BAM , I came down hard on the RRO Rock Rail.. If it had not been there I
am sure I would have a crushed rocker panel and some damage to the
passenger door..
The skids, the RRO Rock Rails and lift, and the tires all helped me make it through
this trail..
Climbing a wallowy hill, with everyone else out of their vehicle to watch me,
was the most excitement of the day..I was doing fine until the right rear tire
went down into a wallow, and the left front tire shot up into the air, giving
them all the ‘jeep wave’.. I was NOT expecting this.. and I wasn’t even at the
difficult part of the hill yet.. It must have been 4 or 5 feet in the air, all I could
see was blue sky..I just kept going and after the tire settled back down, it
climbed the rest of the hill with no problems..
(somebody got pics,, will post asap..)
Had a great time with everyone there..Best trail ride I have had in years..
Thanks to everyone there..!!8)
