Hey I just bought a Liberty and love it, but noticed the gas mileage isnt that great. I've had it for almost a week and already filled up twice! Then again I have put almost 600 miles on it. I'll post some pics when I get my camera back 8) My bf has a TJ and we're getting ready to lift it so I guess mine will be next :) Any suggestions on a good lift kit?

I have the Combo 2.25" lift, and it works great..

Expect to lose even more mileage after lifting, due to the weight of the bigger tires and the fact that Jeeps have the aerodynamics of a mailbox. Lifted Jeeps are even worse. Then again, you said you've filled up twice and put 600 miles on it. How many gallons is that? 2 x 15 gallons? That's a not-too-bad 20mpg...
BTW - Welcome aboard!

Sand? Hmmm - I 've heard of that. We spread it on the icy roads! :D

hmmm.
all that white powder on the ground looks suspicious :D
we don't have snow or sand on the ground here; but it is all shiny and wet.

Some of the sand around here can be a real pain. Most of the time we have to air down to get around. The pic of the red liberty going into the water looks awesome I think its worthy of becoming a poster.

Actually, I meant to post this one (closest thing to sand I've done so far, although I hear there are some dunes in Eastern Washington).

Hey Ninja
If you want to see some sand, why dont you take a road trip down to Oregon coast, and there is Plenty of places down here, I'm just a hour away from sandlake where we go!! And if you want a real long road trip you could hit up florence..... you'll see all the sand you want!!!:D

I knew a guy, who knew this other guy, and he drove on sand once, but he got stuck

playerh15 I like your choice in colors, as you can tell by the pic of my new KJ that I got on Dec 31st 2002. It's a 2003 Sport with lots of neat stuff in it, best being the select track transmission. We have some of that sandy stuff here in the sand hills of North Carolina and we just had some of that snow stuff. My KJ handles both with NO problem and it's still stock. Gotta love it.

Welcome and congrats..
I have always loved the Patriot Blue on the KJ..
That is what I would be driving now if they had one instead of
the Flame Red when I went to get one..

Nice KJ Sekar .. I absolutely love my Libby. Best purchase I ever made! I need to get some new shoes on her though .. the tires I have slip and slide on the road too much. It rains quite a bit down here and all the slipping annoys me. Here's another pic of her :)

deserthorizons, Flame Red was my second choice if they hadn't had the Patriot Blue available. I love the mods you did on your rig, at least the ones I could see. What are the mods to date you've done on your rig?
playerh15, again I love the look of your rig. What size and model of shoes are you putting on her? Are you planning a lift for her as well?
My first mod is going to be the skid plates. I'll probably got with the Mopar tranny and gas tank plates along with the Underbelly skid plate by Rocky Road to "fill in the gaps".
Thanks for your welcomes y'all, makes me feel right at home on this board.

just a couple of things:
Put a CB in under the passenger dash..
"Strengthen" the tranny skid by welding some braces on it..
I haven't had a chance to see if it works yet..:)
everything else is listed in my 'sig'..

I probably won't lift her for awhile, but I do want to. I'm thinking about putting BF ATRs on. I don't need a mud tire b/c she's my daily driver and that would just be kinda stupid. But I still like to take her offroad. However, my next thing is to put a CB in her as soon as my friend can find the time to help me out with it.

So what were your mounting points on the tranny skid when you tacked on the braces?

Yeah, I love to take mine off road too. She's also my daily ride, but we love to get dirty together. I want to check with my dealer to make dead sure a lift won't void my warranty. I just got her and I want the warranty to last for awhile longer. I don't even have a 1000 miles on her yet, I'll crack that on the way to work tomorrow. I still like to watch folks heads turn and stare as I drive by.......

Yeah Sekar, they stare at me too, but mainly because of my tire cover. I've had so many comments on it! It definitely attracts attention :)

I want to get one of those wheel covers for my wife's Wrangler. I think she owns every smiley face on the planet. :) I want one with the American Flag that says " there's only one". the one i have is plain black with Liberty on it, kinda dull but it was all the dealer had on hand.

You know it is funny..
I have had those pics in my 'mailbox' for a couple of months now..
I just went in 2 or 3 days ago and deleted them to make room..
Basically I just welded some 1/2 moon strips along the entire length of the skid, making sure not to overlap the mounting holes..
I put 3 strips on it, and also cut out about 1/4" of the lip under the exhaust elbow..
the last time when the skid bent, it was rubbing against the exhaust and sounded terrible..
You can just make out in the pic where it would hit the exhaust..
(this was why I reinforced it..)
http://gpn.rockcrawler.com/images/skidplate.jpg
I am not sure how much the strips will help, but they won't hurt..

Yeah my smiley face has the american flag bandana around it's head. I got it at Jeepworld.com if you want to get one for your wife. My boyfriend has the plain smiley face w/o the bandana on his wrangler. He gets quite a bit of attention from that as well :)

Thanks! Now I know what to get her for Valentine's Day. Nothing says "I love you" like something for your jeep. :D
