Ok I have been hearing mixed reviews so I figured I would post in my home forum of XJs(In a club with a lot of TJs). I am placing a 4.5" RE with spacers so it would be 6.5" of lift(before settling in). I want to know with just the kit and the spacers what else will I need to do? Driveshaft? Any other mods that I will have to do please let me know. This is driving me crazy, with everyone and their brother who has an opinion-I cant get a straight answer.

Thanks
New to lifting~

Do you already have the 4.5" kit and adding the 2" now? Or are you getting it all at once?

I am getting and installing this all at once. I had the 3" RE lift all we did other then the kit is "Modify" my slip yoke. We grinded it down so that I had a 25 degree angle cause after the lift it was hitting hard. Not enough play like 5 degree if that.

You are going to need to get a SYE and a new driveshaft probably. When you order you 4.5 kit, make sure that you tell them you are going to add the extra 2". Make sure they give you longer shocks and brakelines too. Everything else that you need should come with that kit. Instead of the RE 4.5" kit, see if you could just order that kit with there 6" lift pack and get ZJ 4.5" lift coils for the front(instead of the 4.5" lift springs). That would give you 6" front and rear and you wouldn't have to worry about spacers and shackles or blocks. You also might want to get those drop down brackets to get your LCA at a better angle. Those brackets are still new, so there is no word on how strong there are.You might want to see if you can trade those crappy RE discos for some JKS ones. RE discos suck. Call RE and tell them your plan. I'm sure they will give you some good advice. But for the cheapest price on RE stuff, go to www.toyboxoffroad.com. You might want to call them about your plan too.

Well I got the kit for a steal and I am in Canada. So that is why I have gone this route. So I will have to get a SYE and longer driveshaft. I am checking into the Shocks now and I know the ubolts need to be updated as well. Is there anyway of getting the measurements before I go to do the kit? This is so I can get the driveshaft for the kit so it can be done in one shot.

Thanks

Can't help you with the driveshaft measurement. Sounds like your xj is going to be pretty nice. What size/kind of tires/wheels are you going with? Which axles/gears?

I would call Tom Woods, I have heard a lot of good things about him. I got lucky and am still running the stock d-shaft with 6" of lift and no vibes (boy am I lucky!), but yours is newer. I'm not sure about the number, but I'm sure someone here has it. HTH.

OK, being as that I have the exact set up you are looking for, well almost, I think I can help.

I have the setup suggested by Lazy Dave D (ZJ coils and leafs...no blocks or anything). I am currently sitting at about 7.5" after a few months of settling.

Here is a pretty close list of things I needed to get to this point and have a XJ that I can actually drive to work everyday:

Ext. Brakelines - Get Ext. lines for a YJ and they will be plenty long (RE pn RE1565).

Ext. Length Shocks - Currently running RS9000, but will be switching to something else in the next week or so. I have to say I am not at all impressed with the Ranchos.

SYE - Went with the RE cut and tap SYE. Love it, no complaints and the install only took me about an hour.

CV Driveshaft - Had mine made locally and it took them about 5 hours to do it. Beefy and NO VIBES!!!!!!

Adjustable CAs - Well at least have either the UCAs or the LCAs adjustable, both adjustable would be great. I have Rusty's adjustable uppers and extended lowers. Having at least one adjustable witll allow you to adjust your caster to help eliminate death wobble.

DPA - I ended up not needing one, but it will help with steering issues if they crop up.

Steering stabilizer - Make sure you have a good one and possibly think about fabbing a mount for a second one.

Adjustable trackbar - I hear that REs new HD trackbar is great. I have their standard adjustable one with the heim joint and, well I have had a lot of problems with the heim joint.

A lot of this depends on the year of your XJ....HTH

Well i have a 10" lift and I did alot of stuff you will need to do. I took my drivelive in and got it shortend, axels pressed, bearings and bushing replaces, brake line extensions, drop bracket for e-brake, vacuum lines for axels. You dont NEED the SYE right away, unless you plan on doing really hard trails. I have had no problems yet and i dont have one, and my angle is much bigger than yours, so worry about when you get $400. I also would start looking into a 80 degree cv unit!
