I've been playing around on this site and decided to register because i have two jeeps. I just bought a 2003 Liberty limited. I also have a 99 wrangler sahara edition. So this might sound stupid but why are the liberty's called KJ???
I'm not an expert, but I think it is simply Daimler Chrysler's (formerly AMC, Willys, etc) model number. The CJ stood for Civilian Jeep. The Cherokee is an XJ, the Grand Cherokee is a ZJ, and the Wrangler is a TJ. Anyone, if I am wrong on this, please accept my apology and correct as needed.

Yep, it's just a model designation. The letters don't actually mean anything.
Also:
MA, MB = military Jeeps
WJ = new Grand Cherokee
YJ = square headlight wrangler
TJ = new wrangler
MJ = Comanche pickup
Us lazy typers use the designations because they are faster to type and make it easier to differentiate between CJ/YJ/TJ and XJ/ZJ/WJ
