My boyfriend's dad has a 79 CJ5. I have husky floormats for my jeep and love them, and wanted to get him floormats for his birthday. The problem is they don't make them for that old of a jeep, or the counterman says they don't. Do you guys know of any other brand that makes a similar type of floormat?

Is the Jeep carpetted? More often than not they aren't and the CJ folks I know just let mud and water drain through the holes/cracks. Ya might just want to check with 'Dad' and see what his plans are for the Jeep. If he's planning to line the tub at some point, you could get him a gift certificate at the lining place, or some trashbags, rubber gloves and brushes if he plans to do it himself.
My mom and my sister knew I needed tires last winter and both contributed by buying gift certificates at Big O...I only ended up having to pay for three tires that way. Be creative - boyfriends Dad will appreciate it, and if that makes boyfriend happy then you reap the rewards indirectly that way. ;)
Jim's advice is good... but if he REALLY wants floor mats, get him Weathertech mats, they are black with a red stripe. These are very good rubber mats, and can be cut-to-fit easily. I have them in my '71 CJ%, which is even older and smaller than the '79 you mentioned.
I like my Weathertech mats, I even bought a full set for my wife's Grand Cherokee.
