Did you herculine the cargo area? Do you have any pictures of that?
Thats one of my plans this summer, to herculine just the cargo area. Im not ready to do full tractor style yet. But the rear carpet is pretty much shot.

No, I haven't gotten around to that yet (the stuff takes 6-8 hours to dry), but that will probably be one of my next projects. I'll take pics when I do it though.
hey, how much does that stuff cost and how much did you use? what kind of prep work did you do? i just pulled the carpet out of the front because of mildew smell and was thinking about doing the same thing.

Well, I got the small can on sale at NAPA for about 25 bucks, and I didn't even use half of it. All I did was clean out the whole area and then wiped it down with rubbing alcohol and then dried it. It says on the can to use some other chemical (the name I forget), but I thought that rubbing alcohol would do fine and it hasn't chipped away or anything yet. The downside to it all is that it takes 6-8 hours to dry :(
i heard that stuff smells for days, is that true?

To answer wage's question, it takes about 2 days to get the smell completely out, but I kept the windows and the hatch open the entire time I was doing it and I had the garage door open too. That is one reason I think it would be better to do it during the summer, because you can drive with the windows down after you put it in and that helps too. And to answer the other question, I just did the front floor, I didn't do any of the trim or anything, I know someone who did that, and I don't like the way it looks, I am going to do the cargo area pretty soon here also (possibly this weekend), so when I do that, I'll take more pics as well. Cheers! :)
thanks for the info, heard that once you open this stuff you have to use it right away. is that true or can you slap a lid on it and use it at a later day? also, what about other brands? i saw some DUPLI something or other and it was like $40 for a gallon, same type of stuff. (or not?)

Well, I just put the lid back on, it's just like a paint can, I haven't opened it back up yet though, so I'm not sure about reusing it, but I hope it works, I'd hate to have to buy another whole can! ;)

Iv'e used Herculiner on my XJ's rear cargo area. It comes in quart or gallon sized containers. Heck, K-Mart carries the stuff. $25 per qt., or $100 per gal. It's straight forward, ruff the surface to be herced with some scotch brite pads or 200 grit paper. Throughly clean with a non-phosphate type soap and water. Rinse and let dry. Final prep with minearal spirits, paint thinner, or even rubbing alcohol (although I don't recommend it). It works okay, but, I found it too be a tad too abrasive for my liking. I ended up putting my carpet back over it. As for the part I do not like at all.
I built my own roof rack out of 1 1/4" DOM tubing. A bit too robust, but I wanted it to match the diameter of my rock rails. Anyhow, back to the point... I painted my rack with this stuff about a year ago. It now resembles some bleached out scrap metal you'd find in a junkyard! I am pissed because I now have to try to remove the crap and get it powder coated. It all depends on what you, the end user, is gonna be happy with. I am not a satisfied customer. So sue me :P
