Sometime ago while surfing websites I stumbled across a manufacturer or person that was converting military containers into tool boxes with removable trays.
Does anyone remember the website. I am trying to design a toolbox for my Jeep. See picture below.

I think cheapertthandirt.com had them.
I use ammo boxes all the time, they float too.
I get mine from a guy in VT when I go up to visit my dad.
Never seen them on the web, but I'm sure they are out there.

Try the Amry surpluss stores. The last one I was in had about 200 of them stacked up. Didn't look to see how much they were. Sorry.

I have made a few for friends. Take a large 40mm or 50mm can, cut 1/2" angle iron to fit the width of the can. Insert a 30mm can inside with lid removed. Find the depth in which the smaller can sits. Raise it up enough to allow room for whatever you like. Rivet the angle iron in place to support the smaller can. You should be left with a large ammo can with a space enough to hold misc. tools/parts and the smaller can for nuts, bolts, screws, winch accessories or whatever you choose. A paddle lock will secure it, and it can be bolted down for a more "permanent" application. Let me know what you think, email me if need be! Later, ROKSURF
