Hi I just tried to install a rear disc break conversion kit from Stainless steel. What a joke! The calipers don't fit, The e-brake cable mount bracket does'nt fit, the kit does'nt match the instructions or the pictures, Stainless Steel Knows about the problem, still sells the kit, and could care less if it fits or not. There representitive was rude and had no solutions or suggestions and the kit costs $669.95. O my god what a bunch of amatures to sell a kit without doing the R&D. Does any one know of a company that sells real rear break conversions? 78 Jeep CJ7 AMC 20 rear. Thanks! jim. ( loosing money fast )

Jim...

Ruh row... problems ! ??

I just put this kit on my 85 CJ AMC 20 about 3 weeks ago. It'll work, and yes, I had to mess around with some stuff. But I thought my problems were related to my 1 pc axle shafts being slightly different from stock.

Far from being a bolt on IMHO

You using the right kit ? There are 2, one for stock axles and one for 1 pc axles.

The calipers were a pain. I had to machine the spacers down a little bit to center the caliper on the disc.

Feel free to call me and I'll share what I can

EDIT: Oh yea, the instruction pictures are VERY misleading I had more success reading than looking at them!

I don't quite know, but a co-worker used that phrase quite often. I believe he got it from a movie. It just the phrase that popped into mind at the time I read this. :D
