I just replaced a worn steering box but now have more problems than before. Now my steering wheel does not lock and there is a hard spot when changing direction while turning the wheel. It's not really noticable while driving just when parked. It's kinda like a hump to overcome when you change fromt turning right to left. Anybody have any ideas here? Thnaks.

is it a standard Jeep steering box or aftermarket? what type of box?

It's a reman unit. I just swapped my old one back in and the reman definitely has the wrong gear ratio. i think that's some of the problem. I am now noticing things I didn't before due to the ratio change.

Your steering box should not have anything to do with your wheel locking. That is done inside of the steering column. I had a similar problem with my stock steering box on my last Jeep where sometimes I had to overcome a spot where the wheel would not turn. Then it was fine until it sat for a while again. I never did anything to fix it. I know it is a pain, but you may want to see if you can have the box replaced with another.

Good luck.
