Title of Event: Rocky Mountain Land Series -- David Havlick

David Havlick, the founder of the Wild Rockies Field Institute in Missoula, Montana, will present a slideshow and sign his book No Place Distant: Roads and Motorized Recreation on America's Public Lands ($18.95 Island Press). Looking at the ecological effects of roads, and the politics and economics behind their construction, Havlick's book offers the first comprehensive and in-depth analysis of the more than 550,000 miles of roads that crisscross our public lands--a contentious issue of special concern throughout the Rockies.
