Hey All,

Well its two in the morning and I've spent 4 hours, burned up one drill, broke 5 drill bits, dulled out two uni-bits and purchased a new chisel for nothing just to install these damn JKS Quick disconnects. As we all know, or at least I do, that Jeep presses in the stock sway bar mounts on the axle. Well I have tried everything, and I mean everything, to get both sides to budge loose and it is simply not happening, I even went and bought an air chisel to see what help that would be, all it did was flatten the tip like a pancake.

My only option was to drill the damn thing out. Well I got one side after about 2 hours but the other side is kicking my butt. Its gotten so bad that I had to give up for the simple fact that I ran out of drill bits trying to get this damn thing drilled. I really hope all this labor and cussing is worth my time. I have an event this weekend to go to and I don't want to be stuck like last time spending about an hour reconnecting my Rusty's Disconnects, which by the way are total dog you know what!

I just wanted to let those who have not ventured into doing the JKS disconnects to be patient and that taking out the stock pressed pins really bites. I almost laughed when I read Tiffs mod when she stated that her pins came out easy with an air chisel, well not for me, I guess I got the only year and model that seem like they are welded on. Anyhow, I just wanted to vent and warn those who have not tried this yet. Thanks for the space.

Damn Marc I am sorry you are having so much trouble with the pins. Mine did come out extremely easy...but I haven't seen anyone else's come out like mine did.

I can tell you it is worth the hassle though. Prior to the JKS discos, there were times on the trail that I wouldn't disco due to the amount of time it took to reconnect at the end of the run.

Now I disco to go play in the field behind my house, anytime I find somethig to flex on...just about anything.

Simply pull the pin and slide the disco off. Too easy.

Good luck and hopefully you will get the other pin out.

Marc, it is possible to only disco one side. It will flex about the same.

I actually used a 2 arm gear puller to get them out. It was a pain, but once I got it in position I was able to push them out.

in responce to the original question, yes, they are worth it, it is soooo nice to just pull the pin and disco.

Good Luck,
