The 255/65R16 tires on 8" Rubicon wheels with 5" of backspacing look great on my Liberty, but like most people who have gone to wider tires I was getting rubbing on the fender liner where it protrudes around the pinch weld. I finally got a nice sunny day today, so I got one side fixed.

Step 1: cut the fender liner around the pinch weld.

Step 2: Hammer the pinch weld flat. Some people have just cut it off, but I'm not comfy with that idea.

Step 3: Cut a chunk of plastic to fit over the hole.

Looks good. Are you needing to do anything to the front of the wheel wells yet?

So far with my 245/75/16 M/T's on stock Mesa rims, I'm okay (w/ 2.5" lift). But if I go to a wider wheel or different b/s, I'll need to smash the body seam flat. The only place I rub now is just to the right of the fog light door at full lock(driver's side).

In the front I removed the pop rivot that holds the liner in place below the fog light door and the plug that holds it near the suspension arms. I then re-drilled the holes and stretched the liner forward about 1/2" and re-did the attachments.
