Hi, I'm putting a 360 in a CJ with the Eddlebrock performer package - the bumpstick. I got the EGR equipt manafold and carb. The state im in does not require emmissions for my year vehicle however I'm pretty sure the EGR is required in most states. Does the EGR effect engine performance? I could just cap the thing and worrie about it later, if I move. Somebody school me.

The EGR will help your engine run cooler.

Exhaust Gas REcirculator

Some of your exhaust gases are rerouted into your cylinders. Those gases prohibit as much air fuel mixture to enter as would without the exhaust gases. Because you don't have as much air/fuel to burn, the cylinders will run cooler.

If you would like the 100% scientific explanantion, I will give it to you. But thats it in laymans terms.

It helps give better gas mileage because the exhaust gas take up part of the room in the cylinders, and helps the cylinders run cooler.
